Dale Robbins

“I want to give a big shout out to my family at Hope Brokers! You all believed in me and still do. You gave me the opportunity to give back and helped me to succeed in my fight for sobriety and become a positive influence on all my peers in Augusta. I just wish more people would follow in my footsteps and sober up too. I'm living proof anyone can do it if you put your all into it everyday!”

Kennebec County Organizer at Mobilize Recovery

I love Hope Brokers! As a person in recovery who was once unhoused, I feel that the work Hope Brokers does in the Augusta area is pivotal. I know for a fact that if it weren’t for the grassroots, tireless work that Marshall, Katie, and the other incredible people from Hope Brokers provide, it would have been a lot harder for me to get where I am today. When I was in my mess, Marshall would bring food and naloxone to my hotel, so he'd know I had eaten and I had life-saving medicine in case I overdosed. After I was released from incarceration, Marshall and his organization drove me to my appointments and IOPs until I could get back on my feet. I’m genuinely grateful for everything Hope Brokers has done not only for me, but for countless people in our community. Hope Brokers truly makes our community a much better place!

Director of the Augusta Emergency Overnight Warming Center

Hope Brokers play an active role within the Augusta community on a variety of levels. They are involved with the OURS (Our Unhoused Response System) team that has come together to support our community members experiencing being unhoused. They often provide necessary transportation to appointments for community members in need of support getting to their place of employment, medical appointments, etc. Given the limited transportation services within our city they fulfill a great need for many.

They play an essential role in ensuring our community members have access to food resources. On numerous occasions they have stepped up to help prepare and deliver meals to those experiencing being unhoused, who without their support would have gone without a meal. There are holidays and weekend days where food resources are limited or not available at all and they do not hesitate to step up to fulfill this need.

They volunteer countless hours hosting listening sessions, support groups, and to assist with Saturday breakfast at the UCC church to connect with our community, listen to our community members and to hold open, non-judgemental space for individuals to share this connection and mutuality.

Hope Brokers actively advocate for our community members, speak with organizations to collaborate and create more supportive and inclusive systems. To empower individuals to embrace their personal stories and share these stories to encourage hope and change within the existing systems. They are an integral part of the community and have created a movement of change.
